Cubs fall in first place showdown at Troy
The Clifton Cubs hosted the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles in a District 21 AA contest on March 12. The Cubs behind the pitching of Zach Potts came away victorious 8-0. Potts went the distance striking out three and with the help of a strong defensive effort was able to pitch his first shutout of the season. The Cubs got on the board early as Jarret Wingate singled and was knocked in by a Garrett Evans double. Shane Sibila got the Cubs on the board again in the third with an RBI double and Zack Gloff latered scored on a passed ball to make it 3-0 Cubs. Clifton put the game away with a four-run sixth inning. RBI doubles by Potts and Jaren Brooks were the key hits in the sixth.
