It is not certain who started the tradition of starting the Bosque County Commissioners’ Court with a prayer, but former Judge Cole Word certainly adhered to it. Freshly elected Judge Dewey Ratliff started his first Commissioners’ Court ever with a prayer, continuing the solemn and reflective custom, asking God for his guidance in the decisions the court makes for the county and its citizens.
