The Meridian boys and girls track and field teams took a respectable contingent of athletes to the Region II Championships in Abilene last week. And when it was all said and done, senior Nick Prestwood proved to be the last man standing. With a personal best leap of 22 feet, 1.5 inches in long jump, Prestwood grabbed the silver medal and a trip to the state meet, where he will compete May 9 at 7 p.m. in Austin.
