In a forum and a debate hosted by the Bosque County Republican Club, Republican candidates DeWayne Burns and Phillip Eby squared off for the Texas House District 58 nomination at the Meridian Civic Center last Thursday night as voters prepare to go to the polls for the statewide runoff election May 27. After State Rep. Rob Orr, R-Burleson decided not to seek re-election, four Republicans entered the race last year to battle in the March 4 Primary Election. Eby, a Clifton resident, collected 40.11 percent of the vote, compared to Burns, a Cleburne resident, with 30.34 percent.
