Jason Carl Sorley

Jason Carl Sorley, 31, of Clifton passed away at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco on Monday, Sept. 13, 2015. Memorial services were held at Hold Angels Catholic Church on Thursday, Sept. 17. Jason was born May 5, 1984, in Austin. He was adopted by his parents, Arlen and Glenda Sorley when he was only a few days old from the Lutheran Social Services in Austin. He was a member of Zion United Church at Womack where he was baptized and confirmed. At age 14, he joined Holy Angels Catholic Church where he remained a member. Sorley excelled in various activities that he was involved in. At a young age he was involved in many plays at the Tin Building Theatre and continued as an actor through the years. A few of the plays he participated in were “Lend Me A Tenor,” “The Shakey Tale of Doctor Jakey,” and “Our Town.”. Being a runner, he enjoyed sports such as baseball, track and tennis.

Rita Faye Willmann Patterson

Rita Faye Patterson of Clifton passed away on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015. Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015. The family received visitors on Friday, Sept. 18 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Clifton Funeral Home. Rita was born on Feb. 4, 1952, in Waco to Robert and Marie Willmann. She and her three brothers grew up in Womack on their family farm. Rita graduated from Clifton High School in 1970 and married Keith Patterson on September 26, 1970. Keith and Rita had two daughters, Christina and Carla. Rita loved being outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. In addition, Rita was an avid volunteer for many activities in Clifton, including the CISD band, the Clifton 4-H Club, and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Molly Elizabeth Cavanaugh

Molly Elizabeth Cavanaugh, age 76, died after a lengthy illness on Sept. 16, 2015, in Temple. A Memorial Service was held on Sept 19 at the First United Methodist Church at Evant with a reception following at the church. Rev. Phyllis Davis and Rev. Don Johnson officiated. All were welcome to attend and celebrate Molly Cavanaugh’s life. Molly was born on Dec. 11, 1938 in Winters, TX, to parents CS and Mary Harris. She attended school for many years in Plainview, which she considered her home. Molly worked in the insurance industry for many years. She was a great wife, loving mother, niece and Grandmother. She married Robert Cavanaugh in 1955 and the couple had four children together. She supported her husband in the ministry of the United Methodist Church for several decades. She was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV, reading, crocheting, and cross-stitching.

Leo Roland Beaudry

Leo Roland Beaudry, age 82, of Laguna Park, passed away Sept. 13, 2015 in Clifton, after a long illness. Leo was born Dec. 8, 1932, in Fall River MA, the youngest of four children of Louis and Albina (Emond) Beaudry. He attended Catholic schools in Fall River before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He and Barbara Marion Fournier were married on June 25, 1955 at Sacred Heart Church in New Bedford, MA. The couple commemorated their 60th wedding anniversary this year at Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton where the staff graciously hosted a celebration in Leo’s hospital room. He worked for many years in the vending machine sales and service industry in New Bedford MA and in Dallas TX until his retirement in 1994. The couple moved to Dallas in 1981, planning to stay for two years. After their first Texas winter, however, they abandoned plans to return to the cold New England winters.

James O. Larson

James O. Larson, 77, of Gause, Texas passed away Sept. 5, 2015. A Memorial Service will be held Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale. Pastor Ed Truelson will be leading a celebration of the life and music of James. Recordings of his student’s performances in Bryan, Wellington, and Dulles High School will be heard. A private graveside service will be held at the Clifton, Texas cemetery at a later time. James was born to Arnel and Opal Larson in a farmhouse outside Clifton, on Oct. 30, 1937. He graduated from Clifton High School and continued his education at John Tarleton Agriculture College in Stephenville, Texas, North Texas State University in Denton, Texas and received his Bachelor of Music Education Degree at Midwestern University in Wichita Falls. He went on to earn a Master of Education Degree while attending West Texas State University in Canyon, and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. He also earned his Supervisory Certification at Sam Houston.

Merler Dennis Edge

Merler Dennis Edge, 87, of Dallas, passed away Thursday afternoon, Aug. 13, 2015, in a Dallas care facility. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, in the Memorial Methodist Church in Walnut Springs, Texas, with the pastor, Rev. Ken Berry, officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Walnut Springs. Pallbearers were David Boyd, Damon Boyd, Jason Dann, Jordan Dann, Clint Pullin, and Cody Pullin. He was born in Waco, on Oct. 23, 1927 and was the only son of Merler and Gladys “Dick” Edge. He grew up in Walnut Springs and served in the U. S. Navy Reserves at the end of WW II. He moved to Dallas in the late 1940’s and married Billye Hellums in 1951. Dennis had a long career working for the Lone Star Gas Company, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He is survived by his son, Mike Edge of Ft. Worth; daughter, Ginger Dann and husband, Mark, of Dallas; grandsons, Jason and Jordan Dann; and a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Danny Ray Huffman

Danny Ray Huffman, of Clifton, passed away on Sept. 1, 2015, one day after his 65th birthday. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 at Zion United Church at Womack, with Rev. Michael Vaughan officiating. Burial followed at Clifton Memorial Park. Danny was born in Dallas on Aug. 31, 1950, the younger of two children born to Ray and Dorothy Huffman. He graduated from Sunset High School in 1968 and served in the military for six years.
