Joe Marchman, age 83, of Meridian, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at his residence after an extended illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 5, 2016, in the Meridian First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Wilson and Rev. Richard Creech officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Walnut Springs, Texas. Serving as his pallbearers were Houston Marchman, Joe Marchman, Jr., Sam Scholl, Grayson Phillips, Tiny Allen, and Kevin Hilderbrand. Joe was born September 25, 1932, in Meridian. He was a son of the late Herschel V. and Mary Ruth Rosenquist Marchman. Joe was a graduate of SMU in 1957. He was the first city manager for the City of Plano, Texas beginning in 1958. Joe was a pioneer and developer for Plano. He created the Western Heritage Sale with Gov. John Connally, Louis Pearce, Tio Kleburg, Bobby Shelton and Bill Burford. Joe was an avid collector of historial 19th century French and British Art.
