Funeral services for Lena Elsie Wenzel, 97, were held Monday, March 4, 2013, in Clifton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Clifton Memorial Park Cemetery. She was born Aug. 7, 1915 in Bosque County to Adolph Auguste Ott and Emma Belter Ott. She married Albert H. Wenzel in 1934 in Clifton. They have a daughter, Laynovve May of Dallas and a son, Ronald Wenzel and wife, Sharla, of Hamilton; three grandsons, Koelling, Kent, and Kevin Wenzel; a granddaughter, Kala Von Chorenzick; and 12 great-grandchildren, all of Hamilton County. She was a supervisor of filing departments of several insurance companies. She was loved by her co-workers. She was raised in the evangelical and reformed church. After relocating to Hamilton from Dallas, she found her church home at St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she had many friends and became very active. She also was a buyer and manager of the Ruth Guild Gift Shop. Her hobbies included sewing, needlework and gardening. Her needlework creations will be treasured by many future generations. She had a green thumb and her gardening ability was a showcase in her yard. Her love was in her gardening – she loved all varieties of flowers and plants and raked her last leaves at the age of 95. She was a loving and caring mother and was well known at her son’s gift shop, Dutchman’s idden Valley. Frequent visitors always asked for a hug from “grandma.” She was adored by her co-workers. She was the last survivor of the 16 Ott children and will be greatly missed. Everyone she met instantly loved her.
