Wayne Earl New, 68, the “Cow-Town Boy,” passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, in The Woodlands. Wayne Earl was the “baby boy” of Buford E. New and Bobbie I. New, who preceded him in death. Wayne had been involved in the Riverside Neighborhood Association, American Legion, VFW and ceramics classes with his mother, Bobbie. Wayne enjoyed parades, riding on trains, Easter egg hunts, July 4th celebrations and his family fellowships for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Wayne spent the last few years of his life in the Houston area. He learned to travel with his first cousin, Linda, and her husband, Jim. He was a natural-born patriot, a lover of all kinds of music and an active participant in church services with his family. Wayne was well-loved and he had a great life. His “bestest friend in the whole wide world” was Miss Allie Talbert. Allie is now 7 years old and she has always loved Wayne Earl. Allie is Wayne’s third cousin on his maternal side. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. “Happy trails to you ... our Cow-Town Boy!” Funeral Services were held at noon Saturday, March 9, at Rosewood Funeral Home in Porter. Interment was held Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Mitchell Cemetery, Iredell. Rosewood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
