DAR Contest promotes patriotism

The Bosque River Valley Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, like all DAR chapters, is dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.

Through a Constitution Week contest, the local DAR chapter hopes to reach and teach Bosque County elementary school children about the United States Constitution.

“Won't it be interesting to see their interpretations of the purpose and the everyday workings of that document,” DAR Ruth Crawford said. “So come on, kids. Get out those cameras, markers or pens and let us know how the constitution affects you. If you don't know about the constitution or how it works for you, this is a great chance to learn. Ask your parent, or Google it, and let us know what you know and learn. Be creative and express your freedom of speech.”

First through fourth grade students are invited to enter a written essay, a poem, artwork or photograph on “How the Constitution affects me.” Deadline to enter is July 31.
