FROST - After the Meridian Yellowjackets did their part by posting victories in their first two District 9-1A, Division II games while riding a three-game winning streak, they received an unexpected gift while enjoying the open date in their schedule last week. The Jackets clinched a playoff berth. In the wake of losses by Wortham and Dawson last Friday night, Meridian (2-0 in district, 4-4 overall) clinched at least a tie for the third place playoff berth while owning all of the tiebreaker scenarios. With the playoff berth, the Jackets have qualified for the postseason tournament in two of the last three seasons and advanced to the playoffs for the 23rd time in school history.
