For the Clifton Cubs last Friday night, it wasn’t an easy way to end your senior season on your home field. But everyone knew taking on stateranked Grandview would be a chore. And unfortunately for the Cubs, Grandview quarterback Zack Smith threw five touchdown passes to lead the district-leading Zebras to a convincing 62-33 victory over Clifton at Cub Stadium. But even with the loss, the Cubs (2-3 in District 12-2A, Division I, 2-7 overall) can still clinch a playoff spot by beating Maypearl (2-3, 3-6) in a regular season finale showdown in Maypearl at 7:30 p.m. this Friday. Grandview (5-0, 7-2) will battle Godley (5-0, 7-2) for the district title, while Whitney (3-2, 4-5) clinched third place with a 66-14 victory over Red Oak Life last Friday.
