Graveside services for Clarence H. Anz, 86, were held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Norse on Dec. 20, 2013, with Dr. Ruth Hetland officiating. Interment was at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery at Norse. Clarence Anz passed away on Dec. 17, 2013 at Lutheran Sunset Ministries. He was born on Feb. 15, 1927, at Pleasant Hill community the son of Charlie A. and Lena Alice Meinkowsky Anz. He attended school at Pleasant Hill and Womack. He was baptized at Zion United Church at Womack and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Norse. On Jan. 16, 1954, he married Martha Bergman. The couple had two children. After their marriage, they moved to their present home in the Norse area. As a youth he helped his father with farming. Upon reaching the age of 18, he was called to service in the U.S. Navy toward the end of World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. After he was discharged, Clarence worked on the E.K. Bowman Ranch near Meridian for 13 years. He then went to work for Wilson Building Materials in Clifton, when then became Clifton Molding. He worked there for 21 years. Clarence like to go on campouts and fishing with his family, and attending his sons baseball and football games from PeeWee to high school. After he became ill, his hobby was working search for words. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lena Anz; a son, Edward Anz; brothers, Delbert Anz, Harold Anz, and JE Anz, and Franklin Anz; and sister, Nora Dell Allen. Survivors include wife, Martha Anz of Clifton; son, David Anz of Clifton; sisters Rosalee Dahl and Dorothy Humphries of Clifton; sisters-in-law, Gladys Anz and Marlene Anz of Clifton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Honorary pallbearers were Olee Bakke, Henry Sanders, and H.L. Meinkowsky. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
