Byron O. Loader, age 89 of Lampasas, TX died Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas with burial at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with full military honors at 3 p.m. Loader was born Sept. 30, 1924 in Walnut Springs, the son of William Oscar Loader and Rebecca Viola (Pylant) Loader. He married Wilma L. Chaffin on Aug. 21, 1946 in Iredell. Loader served proudly in the United States Army for 26 years in various duty stations, where he received these commendations; Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Rifleman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal Europe, Africa, Middle East Theatre Ribbons, 3 Bronze Stars ( Ardennes, Central Europe, Rhineland) WWII Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Germany), National Defense Medal, National Defense Service Medal oak leaf cluster, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Purple Heart Medal. He retired as Chief Warrant Officer 4. He went on to work for the U.S. Civil Service in missile systems at Ft. Bliss for many years. He had been a resident of Lampasas since 1985. Byron was a member of First Baptist Church in Lampasas where he was active on the stained glass window committee and money counting committee. Loader is survived by his wife, Wilma L. Loader of Lampasas; two sons, Michael Loader and wife Susan of San Antonio and David Loader and wife Marcey of Sugar Land; brother, Marcus Loader and wife Bettye of Lampasas; six grandchildren; Brian Loader, Kevin Loader, Shawn Loader, Cameron Loader, Cheryl Durkop, Cayman Loader; six great-grandchildren; Katelyn Durkop, Caleb Loader, Eli Loader, Brennan Loader, Kyle Durkop, Denali Loader. He was preceded in death by his parents and by step-father, Bryan Smith and by step-brother, John D.
