The Clifton Cubs started the baseball season with a 18-2 run rule victory over the visiting Hillsboro Eagles on Tuesday, Feb. 18, despite a 1-0 first inning deficit. The Cubs fell behind early but used a big 14 run second inning to put the game away,” said Coach Brian Slater. “The big hit in the inning was a three-run triple by Collin Schasteen.” The second inning seemed never-ending as runner after runner kept flashing over home plate. Zach Potts got the start on the mound and pitched three scoreless innings striking out seven and earning his first win of the year.
