Maudie Laverne (Totsie) Golden Murchison, 88, of Burnet died February 13, 2014, surrounded by family. She was born in Bosque County, Dec. 16, 1925, to Archie Golden and Velma Wallace Golden. She was a delight to everyone who knew her and you could always count on her dressing in style with matching jewelry. She was a member of the Chapel of the Hill Baptist Church at Buchanan Dam. Totsie grew up in the Clifton area, the second of three children. Her dad was a rancher and her mother was County Treasurer for Bosque County. She graduated from Meridian High School where she played basketball, lettering four years. She later attended Secretary School in Ft. Worth. Totsie moved to the Hill Country and married Ovil D Milliorn on July 18, 1945. They had three children, Beverly Ann, Barbara Sue and Bryan D. They lived in the Buchanan Dam area where they owned and operated Lakeview Inn and The Anchor. She was preceded in death by Ovil, July 31, 1959. Totsie later married Harold Murchison, June 23, 1965. They lived in Buchanan Dam and the Long Mountain area until moving to Burnet in 1995. Harold and Totsie and her three children were instrumental in building the Long Mountain RV Park on Lake LBJ, in the late 1960’s. They owned and operated the park for many years, making lifetime memories. They were known for having some of the biggest “fish frys” on Lake LBJ. After selling the park they travelled the United States and Canada, making friends along the way in many RV Parks. She was an avid shopper, always looking for just the right clothes and jewelry to match. She loved the frequent trips to Louisiana with friends to play the slots. Totsie spent her retirement years playing skipbo, bingo, forty-two, shuffleboard and dancing. Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren. She is remembered fondly by her grandchildren for her cooking. They all agree their favorites were fried chicken, spaghetti and tomatoes, cornbread sticks and dessert of her choice. Survivors include son Bryan Milliorn (Nita) of Burnet, daughter Barbara Williamson (Ben) of Kingsland, step-son Loman D Milliorn (Ann) of Burnet, stepdaughter Deanie Smith (J.C.) of Bertram, grandchildren Harold Wayne Williamson of Granite Shoals, Charlie Williamson of Kingsland, Toye Compton of Kingsland, Tonya Quintero of Burnet, Kristin Milliorn of Burnet, Jamie Smart of Lometa and Kevin Smart of Lampasas; 17 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
