Meridian’s Allen signs as free agent

NEW YORK - Meridian’s Torrence Allen didn’t hear his named announced during the three days of the National Football League Draft last week. But the former Meridian Yellowjackets three-sport letterman got the next best thing - a professional football free agent contract. Once the draft ended last Saturday, the San Diego Chargers signed Allen to a rookie free agent contract, giving the West Texas A&M wide receiver a chance to prove himself at the next level.
