A. R. “Rudy” Strey, Jr., age 75, of Lakeside Village on Lake Whitney, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, in a Waco care facility after a brief illness. A lunch and celebration of the life of Rudy will be held at the Lakeside Village VFD Community Center at 1 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2014. Family and friends are invited to attend. Rudy was born July 4, 1939, in Wheeler, Texas. He grew up in Canadian and went to school there. He lived in Keene for a number of years with his wife, Jean, who preceded him in death. Rudy married Jackie Dukes in 2005 and moved to Lakeside Village. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. Rudy was active with the Lakeside Village VFD Auxillary as a willing helper at their activities. He a member of the Bosque County Republican Club. Rudy enjoyed casino poker and cruising to different countries. Rudy was a retired truck driver in the oil fields. He was preceded in death by parents, Adolph and Elizabeth Blakey Strey, Sr.. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Dukes-Strey of Lakeside Village; sons, David Strey and wife, Kristi, of Cleburne and William Strey of Cleburne; step-son, Max Dukes and wife, Lynne, of Cleburne; grandchildren, Elizabeth Strey Baxter and husband, Gene, Cameron and Collin Strey, Michelle and Christopher Baxter, all of Cleburne; Justin, Eric and Lauren Dukes of Murphy; and a number of other relatives and friends.
