Charles Martin Jorgenson, 78, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at the Sales Hope Memorial Center in Clifton. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Clifton. Jorgenson was born on June 25, 1936, to Simon Carl and Stella Mae Jorgenson in Clifton. He had one sister, Mary Ann. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1954. He worked for the McGregor Air Force Plant, formerly Bluebonnet Plant, for two years after high school. In 1958 he went to work for Standefer Chevrolet Co. as a mechanic for 10 years. In 1960, he met his future wife, Sara-Lyn Wreay of Meridian. They were married on Spet. 2, 1961. His daughter, D’Ann was born on Nov. 23, 1966. In 1968, he went to work for American National Insurance Co., Galveston in their Waco office. He worked there winning awards for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed traveling especially to Colorado and hunting antiques. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He served 21 years in the Clifton Volunteer Fire Departments. He served 26 years in the Texas State National Guard, receiving the Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal for his distinguished service in the military forces of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sara-Lyn Jorgenson; daughter, D’Ann Jackson and husband, Michael Jackson of Colorado Speings Co; Aunt Faye Jorgenson of Clifton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rex and Ruth Ann Anderson of Meridian; and nephew, Taylor Anderson of Clifton and niece Dana Brownsworth of Clifton. Memorials may be given to the Hope Center of Lutheran Sunset Ministries in Clifton; First United Methodist Church of Clifton; or the Alzheimer’s Association. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
