TBT holds auditions for ‘Carol & Friends’

The Tin Building Theatre will present three performances of four beloved skits from television’s golden age in October. Tryouts for the production, “Carol and Friends,” will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m., at the Bosque Arts Center TBT.

Three of the four skits are taken from the Carol Burnett variety show, which ran for eleven seasons on CBS from 1967 through 1978. Those comedy sketches include “Red Dust,” “Alice Portnoy and the Bank Robbers,” and “Old Folks.” The skits originally featured Burnett, along with co-stars Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence, and special guest stars. The fourth segment will be the classic Abbott and Costello baseball comedy routine, “Who’s On First?” The show has roles for three women and up to eight men.

“This should be a great opportunity for newcomers to help out on stage or behind the scenes,” said TBT President Judi Boston. She said each skit runs about ten minutes and will require minimal rehearsals over four weeks.

Production dates for the show are Saturday, Oct. 7 and 14, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 8, 2 p.m.

Rehearsals are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. beginning Aug. 29.

“We hope we have a big turnout for those hoping to be a part of this fun show,” said Boston.
