Selfless service

Bosque County civic organizations and agencies rely heavily on volunteers and active community members to get anything and everything done. Once a year, the Bosque County AgriLife Extension Office, the Bosque County Commissioners’ Court and the Bosque County Leadership Advisory Board honor a few of these volunteers that put service above self to make the county a better place to live and raise a family.

Angels Sing On High

Smith’s concert of contemporary worship for Christmas, as performed by the Bosque Chorale Dec. with each song a dignified homage to the true meaning of the season.

Christmas the cowboy way

What do you get when you mix Gene Autry’s voice and Bugs Bunny’s wit with Santa Claus’s charm? You get The Riders in the Sky’s “Christmas The Cowboy Way” show at the Tin Building Theatre in Clifton on Saturday, December 10 – That’s what! The tin star carolers brought their unique brand of “Comedy and Western” nostalgia to the same stage around Christmastime last year.

Lutefisk & Life

In Texas, beef may be chief, but in Cranfills Gap, lutefisk is livsstila way of life. For 52 swings around the sun, the tiny town under Cranfills Mountain has rallied together to serve this unique fish dish on one night of the year as a fundraiser for its public school’s activities.

Norse Jul: Clifton celebrates

An integral part of the Norwegian Christmas Home Tour is the celebration of the Norwegian settlers that came to Bosque County in search of a better life and the chance to own some land. This year, two privately-owned historic Norwegian homes opened their doors to the public. Just by standing in these historic monuments, visitors could breathe in some history, transporting them back in time to the early European settlers in the county.

Seasonal activites highlighted with parade

In Bosque County, the Christmas season started on Friday night with a lighted parade in a dark, damp night, the shopping for gifts, shops and venues filled with welcoming music and the flickering of candles.

After getting a chill during Clifton’s lighted parade, visitors could trek to the Bosque Museum where they could enjoy the special Christmas with a German Accent exhibit.

Non-existent harvest wreaks havoc on 2016 Pecan show

Sound of music

Enjoy the sounds of the season as the Bosque Chorale presents an encore performance of one of its more popular concerts, Agnus Dei, Lamb of God Born to Us. The concert features the songs of contemporary Christian recording artist Michael W. Smith interwoven with traditional carols. This moving work for narrator, soloists, and choir will be presented at Trinity Lutheran Church on Dec. 8 at 7:30 pm.
