Helen Ruth Young

Helen Ruth (Finke) Young, age 77, of Crowley, Texas, passed from this earthly life and into the arms of Jesus on Feb. 8, 2016. Funeral services were at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Valley Mills Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2630 West Freeway, Ste. 100, Ft. Worth, Tx. 76102. Ruth was born June 28, 1938, at home near Valley Mills to Willie Ernest “Bill” Finke and Pauline Darby Finke. She was baptized in Steele Creek. Ruth was a 1956 graduate of Morgan High School where she was salutatorian. Ruth worked for Braniff Airlines from 1958 until 1982 beginning as a keypunch operator and later in the accounting department. She met and fell in love with Melvin S. Young and they were married on April 27, 1996, at East Grand Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas. She was a member of South Burleson Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir, traveling and family history.

Clarence Clay Golden

Clarence Clay Golden, age 92, formerly of Valley Mills, Texas passed away in Clifton, Texas, on February 14, 2016. A service celebrating his life will be 2 P.M. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church under the direction of Foss Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Interment will be in the Valley Mills Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Valley Mills or Lutheran Sunset Ministries, Clifton, Texas. Clarence was born to John & Emma Golden on September 7, 1923, near Clifton, Texas. He was a twin to Clarice Clyde Golden who died December 6, 1937. He grew up in the Norse Community and attended school in Norse, Meridian, and Valley Mills. At age 19, April 1943, Clarence entered the United States Army.

Earline Martha Gaskamp

Earline Martha Gaskamp, 93, of Clifton passed away Saturday evening, February 6, 2016 at Clifton Nursing and Rehab. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clifton with Pastor Clay McCord officiating. Burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Earline Martha (Symank) Gaskamp was born on December 1, 1922 to William (Bill) and Bertha (Betty) Richter Symank on the family farm in the Prarie Chapel community of Coryell County. She was the 5th of 6 children, the youngest daughter. She was baptized and later confirmed, both at St. Johns Lutheran Church at Coryell City. She attended school at Prarie Chapel and later at Turnersville. At Turnersville she played on the girls baseball team and was on the first girls team to win a championship. Her early years were spent on the family farm helping with the animals and crops, while her brothers were overseas fighting in WWII.

Tayten Lee Lemmons

Tayten Lee Lemmons, gained his wings to be with Jesus, Wednesday, January 27, 2016. A graveside service was held at Oakwood Cemetery, with Chaplain Sarah Miller, officiating. He is survived by his loving parents, Eric Lee Lemmons Jr. and Heather Holder Lemmons; brother, Tristen Thomas Lemmons; sister, Reighlee Marie Lemmons; grandparents, Brad and Vidette Dunne ( Papa & NaNa), David Slyter (Pepaw), Eric Lee Lemmons Sr., Terry and Lisa Millsaps (Paw Paw & Grammy) and Dan and Lori Holder; uncles, Jamie and Katie Slyter, Ryan and Amanda Slyter, Justin Holder and Ally Kreder, Jordan and Jessica Millsaps and TJ Millsaps; great-grandparents, Bill and Rosie Hugueley, Wally and Anna Acevedo, Len and Patty Holder and Elaine Attwell.

Lydia Hulda Knust

Lydia Hulda Knust, 94, of Clifton, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Hillcrest Hospital. A Memorial service was held at 10:00 am Friday, January 22, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clifton. Lydia Hulda Knust was born August 19, 1921. She was the daughter of Henry and Annie Walsleben Hampe. She was the fourth of seven children, born at home east of Clifton on the prairie. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Lydia married Joe Knust on November 22, 1944 at the St. Paul Lutheran church. They made their home in Bosque county. Joe and Lydia were blessed with four daughters: Barbara, Sue, Nell and Peggy. Lydia and Joe farmed in Bosque County prior to moving to Pecos in the late 1950’s where Joe managed a feed lot. As the girls reached school age, Lydia worked at Anthony’s were she was the Manager/ Buyer of the fabric and pattern department. Upon Joe’s retirement in the 1970’s, they returned to Bosque county.
