Robert Euston Schlenberger

Robert Euston Shulenberger, 97, of Cleburne passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Weatherford Healthcare Center. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 26 at the High Point Church Of God in Cleburne with Reverend Chris Jones officiating. Robert was born May 10, 1920 in Allentown, PA to D. Emmett and S. Ruth (Clippinger) Shulenberger. He grew up in Allentown and later made his way to Florida. In the early 1980’s, he moved to Clifton. Robert drove a truck for many years and also worked as a security guard. He had many talents and loved being a magician and chalk artist. Some of his hobbies included leather work and wood work. For 60 years, he was involved in the gospel ministry where he pastored at two churches during that time. He was a member of the High Point Church of God. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife, Marie Shulenberger; children, Nancy Lee Groves, Cheryl Rene Heberlig, David T. Petty and wife, Ruby, Robert A.

Foster Hinds

Foster Hinds, age 86, of Meridian, passed away Friday evening, May 5, 2017, at the home of a son, Clifton Hinds, near Whitney, Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in the Morgan Cemetery. Brandon Carter and Bryce Donaldson officiated. A visitation was held at the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 8, 2016. Foster was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Williamson County, Texas. He was a son of Burnice H. Hinds and Vergie Verda Talley Hinds. On Jan. 28, 1953, he was united in marriage to Earline Petty in Marble Falls, Texas. The couple lived in Brady for some 20 years before moving to Meridian in 1971. Foster was a retired truck driver and a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Meridian.

Sixto Alvarado Tarango

Sixto “Cecil” Alvarado Tarango age 85 of Meridian, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 11, 2017, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Creech officiating. Burial was in the Meridian Cemetery. A visitation was held Wednesday, May 10, at Lawson Funeral Home Pallbearers were J. R. Aguilar, David Tarango, Jr., Billy Joe Tarango, Jonathan Vasquez, Joe Carillo and Allen Cardona. Sixto Alvarado Tarango was born on March 28, 1932 in Whitney, Texas to Juan and Cruz Alvarado Tarango. On Sept. 29, 1947, he was united in marriage to Juanita Felan in Meridian and she preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 2016 Cecil worked as a butcher for many years at the Meridian Locker Plant.

Robert Gordon Penney, Sr.

Robert Gordon Penney, Sr., 83, of Whitney, passed away on May 10, 2017 at a Whitney nursing home. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Prairie Valley Baptist Church in Whitney, with Rev. Bobby Booth, Rev. David Gant and Rev. Rusty Penney officiating. Burial followed at Bethlehem Cemetery. A visitation was held from on Friday, May 12, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Robert was born on June 12, 1933, in Whitney, to Claude and Mary (Gordon) Penney. On December 28, 1952, he married Bonnie Perkins in Whitney. During the Korean Conflict, he served his country in the United States Army. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Along with his wife, he was an avid Whitney Wildcat supporter and never missed a sporting event that the children and grandchildren were involved in. He was a member of Towash Baptist Church in Whitney. Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, Ross Penney and Clyde Penney.

Ernest Franklin Willmon

Ernest “Ernie” Franklin Willmon, 67, of Clifton passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016, at Goodall- Witcher Hospital. Ernest was born August 18, 1949 to Warren Lee Willmon and Donna Lou (Watson) in Kermit, Texas. Ernie was proud to have worked security for over 20 years at David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport in northwest Harris County. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Libby) Williams of Clifton, Texas, sister Belinda and her husband, Dr. Jerry Simpson of Kingwood. Services will be at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 27th in the National Cemetery located in Houston, Texas.

David Lane Bevels

David Lane Bevels, 67, of Clifton passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Providence Hospital. The family held a memorial service Friday, April 28, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, Clifton. David was born January 28, 1950 in Waxahachie, to Roy Lee and Betty Jo (Winn) Bevels. After graduating from Waxahachie High School in 1968, he attended Texas A&M University and received a Bachelor of Science degree. On June 14, 1974, he married Kimberly Beth Houghteling. David took pride in his career as a ranch manager and pasture management. Aside from his career, he took a strong interest in volunteering. He was Trustee for First United Methodist Church, Board President of the Bosque County Farm Bureau, and worked with the Central Texas Youth Fair. Over the years, he received several Superior Volunteer Awards. He served his country in the Army National Guard for 6 years.

Barbara Ann Bible

Barbara Ann Bible age 68 of Waco, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 in a Waco, Texas nursing facility. Graveside funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Morgan Cemetery. Pastor William Allen officiated. Visitation was from 6 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Barbara Ann Holmes was born on December 13, 1948 in Fort Hood, Texas to Brewer Lloyd and Betty Jane Gurney Holmes. She attended school in the Palestine School District. Barbara married Joe Bible on August 26, 1971. She worked in many different areas in her lifetime being a seamstress, working in restaurants, and also in telemarketing. Barbara attended the Spring Street Baptist Church. During her free time she enjoyed reading, crafts, puzzles, and more so enjoying her grandchildren. Barbara was blessed to have recently enjoyed a once in a lifetime trip with her family on a cruise to Cozumel.

Lula Ann Damron Morrison age 78 of Walnut Springs, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 in Glen Rose, Texas. Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Walnut Springs Baptist Church. Rev. T.J. Joyner officiated. Burial was at the Fulton Cemetery near Walnut Springs. Visitation was from 6 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Walnut Springs Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Judson Morrison, Rick Hunter, Steve Hunter, Chas Walts, T.J. Tweedle, and Robert Morrison. Lula Ann Damron was born on October 30, 1938 in Walnut Springs, Texas to Marshall and Thelma Eugenia Parker Damron. She graduated high school from Walnut Springs. After graduation she went to work for South Western Bell Telephone Company for a few months before enrolling in TCU. Ann graduated from TCU with a BA degree in Education. After she graduated from TCU her and Garland decided to get married. To this marriage one son was born, Keith.

Susan Baxter Price Spurlock

Susan (Sue) Baxter Price Spurlock age 69 of Meridian, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at her residence in Meridian. Memorial services are pending. Susan Baxter was born on April 15, 1948 in Hyrum, Utah to Lamont and Lucy Hill Baxter. Susan was a longtime resident of Meridian where she lived since 1988. She worked at the video store for a number of years, now where First Security State Bank in Meridian is located. She enjoyed people, antiques, her grandchildren, and watching movies. She is survived by her two sons, John ( Johnny) Spurlock of Bellville, Texas and James ( Jimmy) Spurlock of Fort Worth; three granddaughters, Samantha, Danielle, and Sophie; two grandsons, Jacoby and Madden; four sisters, Dortha Jessup, Lois Ann Hopkins, Bonnie Lemon, and Donna Parsons. Sue will be missed by her close friends: Warren, Betty, Shonnie, and Freddy. Domestic Abuse was one of the things she overcame in her life.

Edwin Adolphus Peters

Edwin Adolphus Peters, 88, of Austin passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Norse with Pastor Bill Metting officiating. Burial followed at Norse cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Edwin was born July 23, 1928 to James and Lila Marie (Linberg) Peters on beautiful Bee Creek in Bosque County. Edwin grew up on the family farm at Bee Creek. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1946.

Edwin joined the US Marine Corps, where he served his country from 1946-1948. Upon returning from the service, Edwin married the love of his life Peggy Ann Pylant on July 10, 1949.
