Ivan Allison Johnson

Ivan Allison Johnson, 89, passed away on February 25, 2017 at Red Oak Health and Rehab in Red Oak. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 2nd at the Old Rock Church in Cranfills Gap with Pastor Ryan Pederson officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. He was born on April 24, 1927 in Cranfills Gap to C. O. (Charlie) Johnson and Edyth (Carlson) Johnson. He grew up in Cranfills Gap where he was baptized on June 5, 1927 and confirmed into faith on June 21, 1942 at Saint Olaf Lutheran Church. He graduated from Paschal High School in Fort Worth. After high school he enlisted into the Navy in 1945 and left the day after graduation. While in the Navy he received the Victory and Asian – Pacific Campaign Medals. He was Honorably Discharged on July 8, 1946, achieving the rank of Seaman First Class.

Emma Lorene Johnson Alsup

Emma Lorene Johnson Alsup, age 98, of Grand Prairie and a former long time resident of Meridian, passed away early Tuesday morning, Feb. 21, 2017, in a Grand Prairie nursing facility. A graveside funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 25, in the Morgan Cemetery. Rev. Richard Creech officiated. The family received friends at Lawson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Leland Stewart, David Stewart, David White, Ryan Faulkner, Brian Bankston, Jerry Johnson. Lorene was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Kopperl, Texas. She was a daughter of the late Aron Johnson and Leafy Smith Johnson. She was raised in the Kopperl area. On Oct. 31, 1937, she was united in marriage to Cecil “Buckle” Alsup in Kopperl. She and her husband lived in Meridian for several years before moving to Grand Prairie in 1954. Lorene worked at several jobs but mainly as a mail clerk for Blue Cross/Blue Shield before retiring. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Patsy Dahl Cranfill

Patsy Dahl Cranfill, 75, of Clifton passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 at Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February, 28th at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Clayton McCord officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday, Feb. 27th at Clifton Funeral Home. Patsy was born February 19, 1942 in Clifton to Einar Alfred and Bessie Mae (Seymour) Dahl. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith March 29, 1942 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clifton. She was confirmed April 14, 1957. She graduated from Clifton High School in 1960. After high school in 1963, she graduated from Hughes Beauty School in Longview. After marrying L.D. Luman in 1965, she moved around Dallas and worked mostly in office work. She loved people and spent most of her time helping the elderly. She loved to make things pretty. She was an artist and served as President of the Conservatory Art Club for one year.

Leon Angermann

Leon Angermann, 69, of Clifton passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Clifton Care Center. Funeral services and burial were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb.18 at Spring Creek Baptist Church. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 at the Clifton Funeral Home.

Vernon Leon Angermann was born February 2, 1948 in Hamilton, TX to Bruno Martin and Allie Mae “Sis” (Landua) Angermann. He grew up in Hamilton and attended school there. He was active in band and loved to race his car. He graduated high school in 1966.

Leon joined the United States Air Force which included service in Vietnam from 1968-1969. After discharge from the Air Force he joined the Army Reserve, and served as Tank Commander in Clifton.

He worked at Gearench in Clifton, and started out as a Reserve Deputy for Bosque County, and later he earned the highest rank as Chief Deputy. After serving Bosque County, Leon was hired as Deputy Jailor for McLennan County where he retired in 2012.

Mark T. Quinters

Mark T. Quinters, 74, of Valley Mills passed to the arms of his Lord on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 at Zion United Church with Rev. Josh Jordan and Rev. R. Michael Vaughan officiating. Burial followed at St. John’s Bismarck Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at the Clifton Funeral Home.

Mark was born to Alfred and Ruth Quinters in Gonzalas, TX on November 24, 1942. The family moved to San Antonio where Mark was a member of St. Gerard’s Catholic Church and attended school at St. Gerard’s Catholic School, grades 1-12. After high school, Mark joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed on Nantucket Island, MA. After the Navy, he attended Texas State University majoring in Art Education.

Herbert Ernest Gaskamp

Herbert Ernest Gaskamp, 98 of Mosheim passed away on Monday, Feb.13, 2017 at Lutheran Sunset Ministries, Sunset Home, Clifton. A celebration of his life was held Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Coryell City, led by Minister Christopher Richmann. Organist was niece, Sherry Schulze. Burial followed at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was an hour prior to the service at the church.

Herbert was born April 24, 1918 at home in Coryell County, Texas to August and Mary (Symank) Gaskamp. He was baptized on June 9, 1918 at St. James Lutheran Church, Mosheim by Rev. Schroeder. He was confirmed on August 17, 1933 at St. James Lutheran Church, Mosheim by Rev. J Fred Meghoff.

He married Marie Miihlhause on January 14, 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Coryell City. She passed away on November 23, 1993.

Mack Young

Mack Young age 72, of Meridian, passed away on Friday morning, February 10, 2017 in Clifton, Texas.

Funeral services were 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Rev. Richard Creech officiated. Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery in Morgan, Texas. Visitation was from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Pallbearers were Brian Morrow, Cody Litteken, Matt Powell, Johnny Amis, Wesley Gosdin, and Addison Cummings. Honorary Pallbearers were Kurk Knowles, Joe Howard, and Doug Beebe.

Mack Young was born on July 20, 1944 in Hamilton, Texas to R.B. and Elsie Ward Young. He was raised and also graduated from Hamilton High School in 1962. Mack owned and operated Circle Automotive in Meridian, Texas for 37 years before his retirement.

Robert Earle Stone

A memorial service celebrating the life of Robert Earle “Bob” Stone was held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church of Clifton. The Rev. Clint Schofield conducted the service.

Stone departed this life on Monday, January 30, 2017, in Waco. He was 65. Bob was born in Princeton, Kentucky, on May 31, 1951. The son of James Stone and Helen Faye Steely (Young), he was and the oldest of five brothers, one sister, three step-brothers and two step-sisters.

Bob worked in maintenance most of his life and was known for being a man who could get the job done. He traveled throughout the country putting rental properties back into shape following damage from tornadoes and hurricanes.

Lynn Jean Foster

Lynn Jean Foster passed away on February 1, 2017 in the Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton, Texas. He was born February 23, 1928 in San Benito, Texas to Nople C. Foster and Ressie Marie Wilkinson Foster.

Lynn’s family moved to San Antonio and lived there for several years, in 1943 they purchased property in Bosque County, just west of Meridian. Lynn had two more years of high school, graduating in 1945. He then entered John Tarlton College in Stephenville, Tx with the ROTC program he became interested in flying, that was his dream.

Lynn married Peggy Joyce “Buddy” Hall on June 30, 1950 They lived in San Antonio during that time ,they were members of a Christian Church and Lynn was a sponsor for the young Boys and Girls in the church, and enjoyed being involved with them. Later they moved out to the south of San Antonio, built a house, airstrip and office space for a new Aviation Insurance Business that he started. He later on went to Houston into a new business.
