Clifton ISD School Board recognized its staff members of the month for January during Monday night’s regular meeting, with Clifton High School science teacher and head girls’ basketball coach, Whitney Holdbrook, Clifton Middle School English teacher, Vikki Moore, and Clifton Elementary School ESL teacher, Mindy Davis taking home the honors.

Clifton High School Principal Jimmy Jackson praised Holdbrook’s resilience in the face of a unique athletic season posed by COVID-19, as well as her dedication to her students.

“She’s done a great job during this COVID era of working with us,” Jackson said.

“She’s experienced a lot of trials, especially in December, but she’s taken everything in stride. She’s done a great job of communicating with our parents and students and doing what we have to do to keep playing.

“So we really appreciate her effort, attitude and her hard work that she puts in the classroom and on the court.”

Clifton Middle School Principal Michael Kusler highlighted Moore’s investment in her student’s mental and emotional health, noting that he has seen the fruits of those labors firsthand.

“The thing that stands out to me about Ms. Moore is, not only does she do a great job of teaching the content, but she also talks about things like empathy and care and citizenship that really connects with the kids. I think that makes a big difference; I can see it as the year goes on how she reaches them.”

Clifton Elementary School Principal Ronda Kroll noted Davis’ willingness to help out however and wherever she can around campus, as well as the positivity the ESL teacher approaches each task with. “This is Ms. Davis’ first

“This is Ms. Davis’ first year with Clifton ISD and Clifton Elementary, and we are very fortunate to have Mindy with us,” Kroll said.

“She joined us in the ESL department, and lately she’s been acting as various subs to keep us going. Mindy has a can-do attitude, and we really appreciate her.”
