Covid cases slowly on the rise in county

Within the month of July, Bosque County has seen nearly 20 new Covid-19 cases. This comes at a time when people were hoping that a post-pandemic life was truly within reach. As of July 10, 202, Bosque County is averaging three new cases per day with a positivity rate of 17%. We are still at a point where we are considered to be in the low range as far as active cases. Four people are currently hospitalized with 48% of the county being fully vaccinated.

The meeting was attended by Judge Cindy Vanlandingham and all four commissioners to form a quorum. It was reported that the new streetlights around the courthouse have been installed but one is not working.

Dr. Monroe presents to genealogical lecture Saturday

Bosque County Genealogical Society welcomed Dr. Monte L. Monroe as he speaks on The Importance of Oral Histories to Genealogical and Historical Research. They met on Saturday, July 9, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at the Clifton Civic Center.

Although ERCOT had requested a conservation appeal to Texans and Texas businesses for this past Monday, it probably will not be the last request. With extreme temperatures exceeding 100 degrees in the forecast for the next two weeks, it would not be a surprise if they requested more conservation efforts on the part of citizens and businesses alike.

Monkeypox cases grow in Texas

According to a press release on June 30, “the Texas Department of State Health Services and local health departments have identified multiple cases of monkeypox in Texas in people who did not travel outside the state. Public health testing has found a total of 12 monkeypox cases in Texas residents. While the first cases involved international travel, three patients report that they did not travel in the three weeks before becoming sick, meaning they were exposed in Texas.” That number has since increased to 26. As of today, there have been no cases reported to the Record.
