The Meridian Economic Development Corporation during its meeting on Thursday, January 18, approved a grant and a loan to assist the Meridian Chamber of Commerce’s solar eclipse event in early April 2024. A $5,369 grant will go towards the Chamber’s rental of portable toilets as well as private security at campsites it reserved at the Bosque Bottoms for visitors the first weekend in April.

Valley Mills Chamber moves back County-Wide Garage Sale by a week

Valley Mills Chamber of Commerce recently moved the date of the 33rd Annual Bosque County-Wide Garage Sale back a week. “Due to the growing concerns of this event being the same weekend as the eclipse, we have changed the date of the BCWGS to the following weekend, April 12-14,” Jennifer Pliscott, Valley Mills Chamber of Commerce Second Vice President, said.

Clifton High School’s Alli Hunt and Leah Martinez both won first place in the Voice of Democracy essay contest sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8553 in Clifton Jose Cano, senior vice commander of the VFW post, delivered the awards which included two certificates and $250 checks, to the freshmen students at CHS cafetorium on Wednesday, January 17. “ Congratulations, ” Cano said.

Clifton school board tables action on removing ‘gender’ from local policies The Clifton Independent School District’s Board of Education tabled action on amending two local policies concerning a student’s freedom from discrimination based on gender during its regular board meeting on Monday, January 22. During discussion, the trustees covered points about the necessity of the proposed changes, the legal ramifications of the proposed change to the district, children’s safety, and the district’s role in providing moral education.
