Texas Broadband Development Office to host public meetings

The conversations at these regional meetings will help the Texas Broadband Development Office (BDO) better understand the needs of communities and shape the development of the Texas Digital Opportunity Plan — which will focus on ensuring that all Texas residents have the skills, technology and capacity needed to reap the full benefits of our digital economy.

People of different age ranges, artistic tastes, and skill sets gathered for a pop-up painting class Saturday morning, July 8, at Chisholm Trail Plaza in Meridian. Kourtney Amundson, an artist and entrepreneur based in Clifton, led the class comprised of several families from the Meridian area.

Meridian City Council appoints interim city administrator

During its regular meeting on Monday, July 10, the Meridian City Council approved a motion to immediately seek applications for a new city administrator to manage the city’s daily operations at city hall. In the meantime, the city council appointed Tiffany Gentry as the acting interim city administrator.

KWTX meteorologist to speak at DAR July 16

Brady Taylor, chief meteorologist for KWTX Channel 10 Waco, will be guest speaker Sunday, July 16, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Clifton, during the meeting hosted by Bosque River Valley Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

Free movie night to feature ‘The Jungle Book’ July 15

Just imagine Disney’s The Jungle Book vulture scene with Buzzie, Dizzy, Ziggy and Flaps as you read that sentence. Or “look for the bare necessities in life, forget about your worries and your strife” and enjoy a movie with popcorn.

Lighting Lions Park

Members of different local organizations, clubs, and businesses volunteered their time to install new electrical lines and equipment in Meridian’s Lions Park on Saturday morning, July 8. With both city equipment and private tools, the team dug trenches to lay the new conduit for the electricity cables and filled the dirt back in.
