G ov. Greg Abbott late last week warned lawmakers to be prepared for several special sessions to pass a tax reform bill that he will accept, as well as a school voucher plan that failed to pass during the regular session.

The City of Clifton recently decided to move Clifton’s annual FallFest event from the third Saturday of October to the second Saturday of October. The 22nd annual event will fall on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

The Texas Department of Transportation’s Waco District began a road rehabilitation projects on Highway 6 in Bosque County this past Monday. The project will widen the roadway by adding passing lanes and crews will perform a mill and inlay to rehabilitate the pavement.

The Heart of Texas Regional Advisory Council (HOTRAC) will host the “Heart of Texas Public Awareness Night – Saving Bodies, Minds and Hearts” event on Thursday, June 15, in Waco. The free event will give Heart of Texas communities the opportunity to “get to know” their first responders and emergency healthcare people.

A non-partisan group will hold a workshop about the voter roll in Bosque County on Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Bosque County Genealogical and Historical Society recently received a $2,000 grant from the Texas State Genealogical Society. The Preservation and Access Grant provided the local genealogical society with funds for supplies to open its library and archives.

During its May meeting, the Bosque River Valley Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, presented student with awards and scholarships. The two chapter scholarships as well as student essay winner awards were presented.

Members and neighbors of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton celebrated Holy Trinity Sunday with outdoor, family-friendly community activities after worship service on June 4. Over 50 people attended the come-and-go event that attracted families from around Clifton with fun games on the front lawn of the church’s property on West Third Street.

The Bosque County Historical Commission is seeking persons living in Bosque County who have an interest in local history and in preserving local history to serve on the BCHC’s board of directors. The Bosque County Historical Commission is the official organization for carrying out the State of Texas’ preservation program at the local level.
