Jonell P. Latham
Jonell P. Latham, 83, of Clifton passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home. A private graveside memorial service will be held at Wortham Bend Cemetery.
Jonell was born Aug. 23, 1934, in Clifton, to W.W. and Ruby Pearl Prince and lived there most of her life.
She was a faithful employee of Clifton Veterinary Clinic for more than 30 years, retiring on December 31, 2017. Jonell made many lifelong friends through the clients at the clinic. She cared for each patient as if they were her own. Jonell always had a soft spot for animals of any size and loved her job.
The biggest joy of her life came from raising her grandson, Will, and nurturing him back to the normalcy of life after his horrific car accident in 2001.
Jonell was like the energizer bunny, remaining active until she had her first stroke on Jan. 30, 2018, a mere month after her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both her husbands Cotton Latham and Roy H. MacKenzie, who was the father of her children; all her siblings Oscar and Gene Prince, Dorothy Prince Warren and an infant; granddaughter Heather Naomi Thornal; and two nephews.
Jonell is survived by her son Roy Scott MacKenzie, and daughter Terry MacKenzie, both of Waco; grandchildren Michelle, Will, Jona, Michael, Jennifer and Leah; nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews.
We feel sure Jonell would want to thank the Sunset Home for their exceptional care these last five months, as well as those who sent cards, flowers and faithfully visited her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to B.A.R.K. (Bosque Animal Rescue Kennel) at P.O. Box 264, Clifton, TX 76634. Condolences may be made at www.cliftonfh.com.
