Betty Lou Morris
Betty Lou Morris, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 14, 2019, at St. James House in Baytown, Texas. She was born February 27, 1925, in Flippin, Arkansas, to Dow Thomas Wooton and Mae (Hurst) Wooton. Betty was united in marriage to Donald Duard “DD” Morris and they had two children, Ronna& Jamie.
Betty moved from Arkansas and to work for Boeing Co. in Wichita, Kansas. She met the love of her life, a Marine soldier, Don Morris and they were married in 1946. They both enjoyed many good times with friends especially the Galas and Balls with the Junior League of Waco, Texas. Betty was an auxiliary volunteer at the information desk and other sorts of jobs for over 30 years at Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas. She also loved playing bridge with friends during the week at the local country clubs and on Friday nights at close friend’s houses. She and Don took road trips throughout the United States and loved experiencing new adventures in all of the different states. Betty spent many of her leisure hours reading the latest and greatest murder mysteries and dramas. A few years after her husband, D.D. (Don) Morris, passed she came to Baytown, Texas to reside for three years at St. James House which was five minutes from her daughter and granddaughter. Betty had outstanding caretakers and friends at St. James House that kept her happy and content. She was an outstanding and loving wife, mother and grandmother, “Mimi” to all of those who cared and adored her. She will be missed by those who loved her.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, J. W. Wooton and Gus Wooton, three sisters, Mary Dell Wooton, Mabel Johnson and Doris Stillwell, and grandson Rance D. Morris.
She is survived by her daughter Ronna Kay Prickett and husband James of Baytown, Texas, son Jamie Morris and wife Helen of Clifton, Texas; grandchildren Heather Gilpin of Baytown, Texas, Megan Morris-Major and husband Richard of Clifton, Texas, Michele Morris of Lakewood, Colorado, great-grandchildren Conner Gilpin of Baytown, Texas.
Graveside service will be held at Clifton Memorial Park Cemetery, FM 1991, Clifton, TX 76634. Pastor Brian McQuiggin of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clifton, Texas willofficiate service on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 2:00pm.
