Leon “Rip” Roedell age 79, of Meridian, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Jan. 10, 2018 in Waco, Texas. A Rosary was held at Lawson Funeral Home at 6:30 p.m., Jan. 12. Mass was held at 10 a.m., Jan. 13, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Clifton, Texas. “Rip” was born on Aug. 8, 1938 in Winton, California. He was a Chief Electrician Mate (EMC) in the United States Navy. After he retired from the Navy, he worked and retired from Merced County Maintenance. His next venture came out of his love for cooking and BBQ. He owned Catering Express which he retired from and then moved to Meridian. In Meridian he enjoyed working at Ace Hardware. In his spare time he enjoyed cooking for others, gardening and going to the casinos. He is survived by his three children - son Patrick Roedell and Lala of Wichita Falls; son Greg Roedell and Kristi of Alpine, Ca., and daughter Suzy Roedell Blue of Salina, California; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; close friend and the family angel Josie Sims; many loving extended family and a friend to all.
