Clifton shines at Cub Relays

In pole vault, Mason Ochoa won the silver medal while Issac Edmiston grabbed the bronze. In the 400-meter dash, Israel Pina took the silver while Ty Payne placed fourth. In the 200-meter dash, Everett Sadler won the bronze, while Colby Caniford placed fifth and Blake Schwartz sixth.

Other point scorers were Hayden Horn sixth in the 3200-meter run, Dakota Davis fifth and Josh Ramsey sixth in the 110-meter hurdles.

The Lady Cubs finished third with 86 points as Hamilton took the team title with 117 points and Hico placed second with 102.

“We had a good showing at home with some kids getting their personal best again this week,” Clifton girl track head coach Ryan Hunt said. “Overall, we always seem to compete very well at our home meet.

“The JV was missing most of their competitors due to softball games being scheduled as well. That just happens sometimes with spring being such a busy time of the year. A big thank you to all the volunteers that came out and helped with both of our meets.”

Lady Cubs scoring points were: 100m - 5th Sutton Finney; 200m - 2nd Maddie Burk; 400m - 2nd Maddie Burk; 100m hurdles - 2nd Sydney Finney, 5th Kate Booker; 300m hurdles - 3rd Kate Booker; 4x100 relay - 1st Sutton Finney, Katelyn Hunt, Sydney Finney, Maddie Burk; 4x200 relay - 3rd Sutton Finney, Kate Booker, Sydney Finney, Katelyn Hunt; Shot Put - 4th Dacey Dietiker; Discus - 4th Tarvia Ferch, 6th Beth Ann McMillian; Triple Jump - 6th Sydney Finney; Pole Vault - 1st Sutton Finney.

The Clifton JV boys also continued to run well winning its fourth straight meet by scoring 125 points.

“Our young kids continue to run well improve each week,” Finney said.
