It was a battle until the end as the Lady Cubs clawed through Friday night’s game against the Keene Chargers.
Keene took charge early in the game with a tight offense. The Cubs spent most of the quarter one step behind. By the second quarter Clifton had began to predict the plays and came back strong on defense. At half time the girls were trailing with a score of 13 to 17.
By the end of the third quarter the Chargers realized they were slipping as the Cubs kept making play after play and gaining points. Keene stepped it up. With every step forward from the Chargers the Cubs came back with matched force.
Putting everything they had into it, the two teams went into the fourth with a tied score. Up until the very last minute it was a fight for each and every point. The Cubs came out victorious by a combination of a three-pointer, successfully planned steals and well executed layups.
Next week the Cubs will play Rio Vista away on February 7, 2020.
