The Yellow Jackets had a rough time from the moment the clock began Tuesday afternoon. The young Jacket team made up of mostly juniors and a couple of sophomores just didn’t have the size or speed to get the job done.

Lady Jackets blow away Texas Wind 41-9

The Lady Jackets hit the court and immediately took control of Texas Wind Tuesday afternoon. Texas Wind just could not pierce the Lady Jackets’ defense. By the end of the first quarter the Lady Jackets were up 15-3. Along with their shot accuracy the Lady Jackets’ passing game was quick and on target. The lady jackets really seemed to be in a groove as a team.

Lady Cubs fall to Valley Mills by two points

The Lady Cubs fell to the Valley Mills Lady Eagles (39-37) last Tuesday. According to the stats provided by Coach Holdbrook April Rowlins led in points contributing 13, Meagan Henderson contributed 10 points, Brianna Gonzalez contributed four points, Kasandra Gaona contributed four points, Laylah Gaona contributed three points, Kynli Bearden contributed two points and Kate Humphreys contributed one point.

DUBLIN -- Riding high from capturing their second all-Bosque County District 12-1A, Division II title in three seasons, the 24thranked Cranfills Gap Lions hoped to catch the 12thranked Gordon Longhorns still suffering from their regular season finale loss to the top-ranked Strawn Greyhounds in the District 11-1A, DII championship game.

Cubs beat out Veritas in season opener in Clifton

This Year the Clifton Cubs are being led by returning coach Tom Daniel. Daniel has been with CISD for the last eight years. “We finished fifth in district last season and are looking to improve in the standings this year. I’m excited about the amount of experience (six seniors) we have and the upside of the underclassmen,” said Daniel.

Young Jackets close out football season

With only three seniors on the roster, the young Meridian Yellowjackets found it difficult to match up physically with the tough District 8-2A, Division I competition this season. Such once again proved to be the case as the Jackets closed out the 2021 Texas high school football season with a 62-3 loss at Santo against the playoff-bound Tigers last Friday night.

In the Battle for the Bosque, the 23rd-ranked Cranfills Gap Lions clinched their second District 12-1A, Division II championship in the last three seasons in dominating fashion last Friday night. But the drama remains far from over heading into the final week of the 2021 Texas high school six-man football regular season as the defending district champion Morgan Eagles host the 2020 district runner-up Walnut Springs Hornets in a winner-takes-all showdown at 7 p.m.
