A new year and new career opportunity

A little over three years ago, this new Clifton Record sports and education reporter was a weekend away from shipping out for military bootcamp, after a discouraging postgraduation job hunt which had netted no viable work opportunities.

Jackets end season 3-6

The young Meridian Yellow Jackets played short handed most of the year and had to count off a large group of freshmen in most of their games. The Jackets did show improvement over 2019 with three wins this season, but as the year went along things just got tougher.

Morgan senior receives 2x Tougher than Tough award

Morgan senior Derik Davenport is the first repeat winner of the Tougher than Tough 1A Fan Six-Man Player of the week award. Davenport was first recognized on September 11 for Morgan’s 74-29 win over Bynum where he carried the ball nine times for a total of 133 yards and completed three touchdowns, completed six of nine passes for 202 yards and four touchdowns, received a 29 yard pass for one touchdown, had ten tackles, forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles.

Cubs fall to undefeated Buffalo

The Clifton Cubs traveled to Buffalo on Friday, Oct. 16, intending to knock off the Bison -- the only undefeated team in District 13-3A.

Eagles trounce Lions

The Morgan Eagles (1-0 district, 5-2 overall) soundly defeated the Cranfills Gap Lions (0-2 district, 1-5 overall) 52 to 6 during the Division 1A 6 man 2 high school District opener on Friday, Oct. 16, in Morgan.
