The City of Clifton has issued mandatory water restrictions to begin Sunday, July 17.

Because of drought conditions and extreme hot weather, Clifton issued mandatory water restrictions for all water customers, allowing customers only two watering days per week.

Addresses ending in even numbers may water Sundays and Thursdays, while addresses ending in odd numbers may water Wednesdays and Saturdays.  Commercial customers such as the hospital, businesses, churches or the school district may water Tuesdays and Fridays.

Watering times will be between the hours of midnight and 10 a.m., and 8 p.m. and 11:59 p.m.  Watering between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. will be prohibited.

Irrigation of landscaped areas will be permitted at any time by use of a handheld hose, bucket or watering can five gallons or less, or drip irrigation system.  The use of water to wash any motor vehicle, boat, trailer, airplane or other vehicle will be prohibited except on designated days.

Any customer trying to establish a new lawn may contact City Hall to ask for a variance regarding the watering restrictions.

The City of Clifton said they appreciate your cooperation as the city adheres to the plan and continues to conserve water usage.
