Meridian residents gathered at the Meridian Cemetery to celebrate the unveiling of a new Texas State Historical Marker to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Russell Daniel Holt (1910-1959). Holt came to Meridian in 1938 to fulfill the need for a doctor in the area. In 1940 he opened the Holt Hospital and Clinic, a first for the city.
