Peace Lutheran celebrates 10-year anniversary

One of Clifton’s youngest churches celebrated an important milestone in July. July 3, 2021, was the 10-year anniversary of Peace Lutheran’s first worship service that was held in the home of Pastor Weldon Smith in 2011. Since their founding with 11 members, Peace has continued to grow and now worships in their sanctuary located at 330 W. 5th Street in downtown Clifton.

City staff members recognized for service

During Clifton’s regular session of the Clifton City Council, City Administrator David McDowell recognized members of staff who have gone above and beyond their duty. On July 30, 2021, Clifford Crosby informed McDowell of a lightning strike that was verified by insurance that took out the water system.

CISD heads back to the classroom

In a special session called by the Clifton ISD school board on Tuesday, August 10, trustees approved the Back to School Plan for the 2021-2022 school year. Protocols have been put in place to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases, specifically COVID-19.

County-wide tax forum provides insight to residents

On Tuesday, August 4, a county-wide tax forum was held in Clifton that served to better inform residents about the taxing process, and what to do if you have issues with your property appraisal. Jerry Golden started the forum off with a slide show.

BARK Bass Tournament scheduled in September

Bosque County Animal Rescue Kennels is excited to announce its first Bass Fishing Tournament at Lake Whitney Saturday, September 11, 2021. The tournament will take place at Lofers Bend Park off the Lake Whitney Dam. All proceeds benefit Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels, with a combined $20,000 in cash prizes for winning anglers.

Commissioners ready to file proposed budget

During open comments at commissioners court, County Tax Collector Arlene Swiney said the air conditioner in her building has been out of service for almost two weeks. She was told it needed a fan motor, and after waiting for it to get fixed, she took the initiative to get it replaced herself, and then found out the compressor was blown.
