Betty J. Alexander, age 91, of Meridian, passed away Friday evening, October 15, 2021, at Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility in Clifton.

Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Meridian Cemetery, with Rev. Yohan Baek officiating.

Betty was born March 24, 1930, in San Angelo, the daughter of Burney and Mona (Williams) Warren. She was a 1947 graduate of Meridian High School prior to attending Clifton College. On July 30, 1949, she was united in marriage to S. R. "Buddy" Alexander in Meridian. Buddy preceded her in death on August 8, 2002. Betty was a lifelong and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Meridian. She was office clerk at the Meridian State Park for over 20 years before retiring in 1992. She also worked for the Meridian Dental Office and the local turkey plant office. Betty enjoyed sewing, crocheting, golfing, cooking, baking, making fried pies and playing "42" and "84". Going on cruises with her siblings was something she looked forward to and brought her so much happiness and laughter. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren .

Betty is also preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Janet Nell Alexander; brothers, Burney Warren Jr. and William H. "Bill" Warren Sr.; and a sister, Jonnie Payne.

Survivors include her children, Jan Goon and husband Rick, and Mike Alexander and wife Shelia, all of Meridian; three grandchildren, Andrew Goon, Ashley Cornelius and husband Nate, and Lisa Alexander; a great grandson, Tobin Cornelius and one on the way; sisters, Patsy Clifford, Peggy Brantley, and Linda McDowell and husband Neal; sisters-in-law, Lola Warren and Joyce Warren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Meridian or the charity of your choice.
