Carol Thomas, 72, of Marlin, formerly of Clifton, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. Carol was born July 18, 1949, in Hopewell, Virginia to Etta (Hanchey) Johnson and Dallas Earl Johnson, Sr.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 9, 2021, in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.  The family will receive on Thursday, August 5, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thomas was born and raised in Hopewell, Virginia but came to Texas as fast as her Texas, cowboy, marine husband could get her home.  They married at her family home in Hopewell on March 16, 1973.  Carol proudly served as a member of the United States Marine Corp at Cherry Point, North Carolina, which is where she and William first met.  She was honorably discharged on May 12, 1973.

Her hobbies were making quilts and she was awesome at it.  Some of us are lucky enough to have one (or 2!) of the hand sewn beauties.  She was looking forward to an Amtrak trip to Virginia later this year, and planning a move to be closer to her kids and grandkids.

Our northern girl turned TEXAN, did not say any goodbyes.  A massive heart attack took her from us as quickly as you can snap your fingers!  God had a different plan for her and called her home on July 28, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister; Ann/Wayne Dillon and they were there to greet Carol at Heaven’s Gate for her Homecoming.

Survivors include her husband; William "Bill" Thomas, son Jon/Tina and grandchildren Coral, Alex and Shaw Thomas; son Christopher "Chris" Thomas; brother Lloyd/Frances Johnson; sister Betty Laxson; brother; Dallas, Jr./Janet Johnson; brother Howard/Suzanne Johnson; sister; Kay Johnson; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and two sisters-in-law are left behind to join Carol at a later date and time when Jesus calls us home.

We all love you and miss you until we see you standing at the gates of Heaven to welcome us on our homecoming.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to Adams Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Daniel Harborth, Jason Harborth, Robert Ivey, Brian McKevitt, Chris Eoff and Tiki Merchant.
