Mary Elizabeth (Betty) McMillan

Mary (Betty) McMillan, age 86, of Cayote, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 24, 2021. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, at the Cayote United Methodist Church with Pastor Jaime McGlothlin officiating under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Interment was at the Valley Mills Cemetery.

Memorial may be made to the Cayote United Methodist Church.

Betty was born on October 4, 1934, in Waco to Wylie and Ora Ophelia (Greeson) Smith. She attended school in McGregor.  She married Nelson Clark McMillan on October 17, 1951, in Clifton. Betty and Clarkie were active in the Cayote United Methodist Church. Betty was involved in quilt making and community suppers at the church. She enjoyed Christian fellowship and encouraged others to attend throughout the community. Betty and Christine McMillan grew to become best friends and shared the same activities alongside the family get togethers. They shared a common bond in encouraging each other the last several years. Betty and Clarkie farmed, ranched and raised cattle on Childress Creek for almost 70 years.  The farm is listed with the Texas Registry as a farm that has been in the same family for over 100 years.  Betty, known as Meemaw or Grandma, loved following her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in their activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Virginia Beavers and her brother Jimmy Smith.

She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Nelson Clarkie McMillan; sons Anthony McMillan and wife Dewana of Clifton; Dwight McMillan and wife Sara of Valley Mills; grandchildren, Shae McMillan and wife Cheryl, Kimberly Kelly, Leigh Ann Poulter and husband JoeDan, Kyle McMillan, Kurt McMillan and wife Sarah Beth, and Kennan McMillan and wife Maci; and seven great grandchildren, Beth Ann McMillan, Bailey McMillan, Kameryn Kelly, Peyton Kelly, Beau Poulter, River Poulter and Mattie Beth McMillan.

Pallbearers were Shae McMillan, Kyle McMillan, Kurt McMillan, Kennan McMillan, JoeDan Poulter and Cody Reeves.

The family would like to thank the staff at Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility for the care given to Betty.  Your care and compassion were felt deeply.
