The City of Clifton has issued mandatory water restrictions which begin Sunday, July 17. Because of drought conditions and extreme hot weather, Clifton issued mandatory water restrictions for all water customers, allowing customers only two watering days per week.

The annual unofficial start of football season has arrived with the recent release of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football as mail subscribers have started to receive their copies. This year’s edition of the magazine features two covers: one featuring Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire, formerly head coach at Cedar Hill High School, and Texas-San Antonio head coach Jeff Traylor, formerly head coach at Gilmer High School and one featuring defending 5A Division II state champions South Oak Cliff, the first Dallas ISD school to win a state championship in football in 60 years.

Fuel cost trends decline statewide

Average gasoline prices in Texas fell 17.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.20 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 45.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand $1.36 per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has declined 8.5 cents in the last week and stands at $5.65 per gallon.

Covid cases slowly on the rise in county

Within the month of July, Bosque County has seen nearly 20 new Covid-19 cases. This comes at a time when people were hoping that a post-pandemic life was truly within reach. As of July 10, 202, Bosque County is averaging three new cases per day with a positivity rate of 17%. We are still at a point where we are considered to be in the low range as far as active cases. Four people are currently hospitalized with 48% of the county being fully vaccinated.

Highlights from July 11 Commissioners Court

The meeting was attended by Judge Cindy Vanlandingham and all four commissioners to form a quorum. It was reported that the new streetlights around the courthouse have been installed but one is not working.

Dr. Monroe presents to genealogical lecture Saturday

Bosque County Genealogical Society welcomed Dr. Monte L. Monroe as he speaks on The Importance of Oral Histories to Genealogical and Historical Research. They met on Saturday, July 9, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at the Clifton Civic Center.
