Council reviews alcohol consumption in city parks

Meridian City Council met Monday evening where they discussed alcohol consumption in city parks. Currently, city ordinances do not allow for alcohol consumption in the parks without a permit, something Parks and Recreation has been respectful of without much consistency from the city.

Back to School Bash a go in Meridian

Meridian Mayor Ryan Nieuwenhuis, along with council members and city officials, have planned a Back to School Bash to take place Saturday, August 20 in Meridian Park and Lions Park. Nieuwenhuis said after learning Meridian ISD was not providing school supplies to its students this year, he wanted to organize an event to help gather supplies for families who may need assistance.

City of Meridian issues voluntary water restrictions

The City of Meridian has issued voluntary outdoor watering restrictions which began Monday, July 25. This follows the City of Clifton’s call for mandatory watering restrictions earlier this month as extreme drought conditions continue throughout the county. Because Meridian receives an allotment of water from Clifton every month, the city was asked to move into voluntary watering restrictions.

Mandatory water restrictions issued for City of Clifton

The City of Clifton has issued mandatory water restrictions which began Sunday, July 17. Because of drought conditions and extreme hot weather, Clifton issued mandatory water restrictions for all water customers, allowing customers only two watering days per week.

Offering an air-conditioned break from the harsh Texas summer just before returning to school, the Bosque Film Society announced a four-day, wild westthemed movie event in association with the historic Cliftex Theatre, giving the general public free admission to six classic westerns featuring the legendary John Wayne and Clint Eastwood during the Cowboy Crossroads Free Film Festival July 28-31.

Kettler named Lions Club Second Vice District Governor

Clifton Lion Renee Kettler was recently named the Second Vice District Governor elect, as well as District Service Chairperson, for Lion District 2-X3. Kettler has been a part of the Clifton Lions Club since 2015 where she has served as secretary, SCIF coordinator, president and member chair.
