The VFW is a fraternal organization of combat veterans and whose purpose is to serve and assist other veterans and promote civic responsibility in the community. VFW Post 8553 has members who served in WWII all the way up to Operation Iraqi Freedom and they work hard to keep the post’s mission going strong.

Meridian residents gathered at the Meridian Cemetery to celebrate the unveiling of a new Texas State Historical Marker to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Russell Daniel Holt (1910-1959).

There were no new cases of COVID-19 reported in Bosque County over the weekend and the active case count continues to remain low. “For the last two weeks we’ve remained below 20 active cases in the county,” said Bosque County Emergency Management Coordinator Chris Anderson.
