The Clifton Volunteer Fire Department reported that its volunteers responded to seven structure fires and 10 grass fires during the month of July. Two of the grass fires turned into structure fires, and three of the structure fires were inside the Clifton city limits, the CVFD’s monthly report stated.

The Clifton City Council approved granting emergency funds to the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department for special equipment during its regular meeting on Tuesday, August 8. Three representatives from the Clifton VFD gave a presentation on the equipment that will assist the volunteers in breathing while extracting people from structure and vehicle fires in the community.

In his report to the Clifton City Council on Tuesday, August 8, City Administrator David McDowell stated that the city is currently at Stage 2 water restrictions. The city’s reservoir is roughly eight feet below its normal level, he said.
