The Clifton Cubs varsity baseball squad split two games on consecutive days last week, first earning an 8-5 win over McGregor on Tuesday, and then falling to Glen Rose 19-2 on Wednesday. In the win over McGregor, the Cubs scored three times in the top half of the 7th inning to take the lead and then held on for the win.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension offices in Erath and surrounding counties are hosting a Dinner Tonight Healthy Cooking School on April 26th at 5:30 p.m. at the Cowboy Church of Erath County in Stephenville.

In February, the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute, NRI, released its Texas Land Trends program 2022 Landowner Survey to learn more about the needs, preferences, concerns and challenges landowners face regarding everyday management of their land. Now NRI would like to hear from Texas landowners again — this time, about water.

3A Region III District 17 Clifton Cubs ended their season (Overall 24-9) (District 9-5) landing them in third place in their district. The Cubs took this team to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years.

After their 53-51 victory over 4th in district (Overall 21-12) (District 9-5) Whitney Wildcats Feb. 15 the Cubs clinched a spot in the playoffs.

On Feb. 8 the Meridian Lady Jackets honored their senior players after their last game of the district season on their home court.

On Saturday, February 12 Meridian High School hosted one of the largest invitational Powerlifting competitions in Central Texas. Meridian’s Weightlifting Coach Chris Freeman said they took great pride in holding an event that ran smoothly without hiccups.

(Overall 21-7) (District 8-4) fourth place Cubs faced off with (Overall 18- 13) (District 12-0) Lorena Leopards on Feb. 11 on the Leopards’ home court.

The Lady Cubs played their final game for the season on Feb. 8th against second place West Lady Trojans.

On Feb. 1 the fourth place (Overall 10-13) (District 4-5) Meridian Ladyjackets took on the seventh place (Overall 6-26) (District 0-11) Rio Vista Lady Eagles.
