January 30th marked the end of the #TexansRecoveringTogether crisis counseling program that provided free COVID-19 and Winter Storm mental health and emotional support to Central Texans. Nevertheless, its staff is committed to continuing to do its part to help people from Bosque, McLennan, Falls, Hill, Freestone and Limestone counties who are isolated due to the pandemic.

The Meridian Lady Jackets started district games off strong but players being out sick forced the girls to play positions they weren’t used to, throwing off their rhythm. On January 7 they defeated last place District team Rio Vista, which was the last win the Lady Jackets secured.

More than three-hundredyears of New Orleans revelry and celebration comes to Bosque County on Saturday, February 12, when the Bosque Arts Center Tin Building Theatre will be busting at the seams with sights, sounds, and good times with the celebration of Mardi Gras!

On January 18 the Clifton Cubs on a four-game winning streak took on first place undefeated Lorena Leopards. The Cubs and Leopards started off with either team scoring until about three minutes into the first quarter.

On January 7th the (District 3-1) (Overall 14-4) Clifton Cubs faced off against (District 0-2) (Overall 11-10) Troy Trojans. During the first quarter both teams were pushing with full court press which allowed the Cubs and Trojans to go basket for basket.

On January 7th, the (District 1-3) (Overall 11-9) Clifton Lady Cubs battled the (District 2-2) (Overall 11-9) Troy Lady Trojans on their home court. First quarter the Lady Trojans pushed the Lady Cubs with full court press.

The Cubs went into their district season with 13 wins and only 3 losses. They played their last non district game on Tuesday, December 28th on their home court against the Crawford Pirates.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will offer producers several opportunities to complete their Auxin-Specific Certification Training for the 2022 growing season, both in person and virtually. The first of five trainings will be on Jan.

The town of Meridian was shaken after learning one of their own police officers passed away unexpectedly December 29, 2021, of COVID-19 related complications. Officer Wayne “Butch” Nowell, 65, of Burleson spent a majority of his 24-year career serving the communities of North Central Texas, and on October 21, 2021, he began a new chapter with the Meridian Police Department.

During their holiday break the (7-11) Meridian Yellowjackets took on the (5- 3) Italy Gladiators on December 21. The Yellowjackets were just no match for the Gladiators.
